The Elder Grey Meeting House Ceiling Project

Our COVID-19 masks did double duty in May 2021 as we entered the meeting house while the workers with Octagon Cleaning & Restoration were soda-blasting the ceiling to remove all coats of shellac, calcimine and paint that had been applied over many years. The bead board now exposed will be painted the traditional white, using the paint and method recommended by Maine Preservation. This is the beginning of Phase Two of the restoration begun in 2018.  Once the ceiling is finished, the plaster walls will be restored.
